Founded in 2002, Women's Education Project (WEP), an nonprofit headquartered in New York, provides college scholarships, academic support, job-oriented training and life skills to help underprivileged Indian women obtain better jobs and make life-changing decisions about their health, finances and future. In WEP's centers, in Madurai and Hyderabad, South India, students gain a lively awareness of life’s possibilities and effect lasting change for themselves, their families and communities. Zoe Timms, Founding Director of Women's Education Project, has worked for over nine years in the nonprofit sector in the U.S. and India.
She has lived and worked for over five years in India and has developed an understanding of the extreme issues of poverty in this culture. In 2002, she founded WEP and its two centers in South India.
